The idea that Fascism is religious is both correct and incorrect. A lot of people would say Fascism is anti-religion because of the almost worship of the State. Which is both correct and incorrect as well.
I suppose you could say Fascism is a pagan like ideology in the sense that the State is treated almost like God but to say Fascism is against religion full stop is false. Now this isn’t to say all Fascist branches are ok with religion. Mussolini during his life was anti-clerical but he didn’t destroy the Vatican. And during Mussolini’s reign proved that Fascism and Religion can work together.
Now let’s flip it and talk about religion. ‘Does religion support the idea of Fascism?’ Well. Catholicism and Fascism hold similar ideas. Main examples being caring for the working class and subordinating individual desires for the betterment of the greater good. And Catholicism and Fascism, like I mentioned before, have worked together. The reason the Vatican City has sovereignty today was because of Mussolini.
‘Ok. But what does the Bible say?’ Hebrews 13:17 “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”
Romans 13:1-7 “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.” Need I not say more?
‘Well would Jesus support Fascism?’ Jesus wouldn’t subscribe to any ideology like how the Christian Socialists think he would subscribe to Socialism. If Jesus lived under Fascism he would see the good Fascism was doing for the common man and he would like that very much. Would I say he would support Fascism and do the Fascist salute? No. He wouldn’t subscribe to any ideology.
So. If you are pious and are worried that Fascism and religion is incompatible do not be afraid. God is with us and will help us in our cause to bring law and order to this chaotic world and bring his truth back to the world. Or if you aren’t Pious don’t be afraid either. For Fascism doesn’t need to be religious in order to be fulfilled.
